DIY: How to recreate your own fairy picnic
Start by choosing your location. It might be a favourite park (ask us for a list of the best parks by suburbs in Sydney) or you may have a special spot in your backyard. You can even have a fairy picnic inside during the cooler months!
The tables are made from wooden crates. You can purchase these online or from your local timber store. We had some custom design ones made (the perfect size for little people) so you can also hire these from us!
Underneath the table, you’ll want to put a mat so that it is comfortable to sit on. Large sheets of fabric or even bed sheets can work perfectly for this. We’d suggest Spotlight, Lindcraft or you can hire these from us. If the ground is a little wet, it can be a good idea to place a plastic tablecloth underneath so that your mat doesn’t get all dirty. We have lots of pink and white cushions to finish off the look. If you are looking to buy instead of hire, these can be bought from Kmart or any $2 shop around Sydney.
In terms of the decoration, flowers are a must! Roses, carnations and lilies work perfectly. Depending on the season you can usually pick up some gorgeous and white blooms without costing a fortune. Adding in confetti and different jar sizes can give the picnic extra dimension.
Now what fairy picnic would be complete without some delicious food? The food can be used as extra decoration. We usually go for donuts, cupcakes, fairybread, popcorn and fruit cups. The candy jars look great with colourful lollies inside. These jars can be hired or purchased from party stores. Deciding which lollies to include can be the hardest part! Having some cups, serviettes and plates on the table makes it easy for the mini fairies and pixies to begin their feast.
We love the extra addition of special wands! You may like to hire these or you can purchase them from your favourite party store. We love to make customised fairy wands based on the chosen colour scheme and you can always have some of your own fun by decorating these.
